Received an IRS, Texas Comptroller or TWC notice?

A government notice can be confusing—and some responses are time-sensitive. Patel Tax Advisors helps individuals and business owners review the issue, organize the facts, and determine the appropriate tax or business-advisory next steps.

Have a deadline? Check the response date printed on your notice now. Submitting an inquiry does not extend a government deadline or establish an engagement. Do not upload tax returns, Social Security numbers, or confidential notice documents through the public intake.

How we approach notices

Understand the issue. Protect the response deadline.

01 — Identify

Establish the issuing agency, general notice category, period, correspondence date, and applicable response deadline.

02 — Review

Evaluate what records, tax returns, reconciliations, or specialist input may be needed. Define what work is permitted and appropriate.

03 — Scope

If the firm can assist, agree on responsibilities, professional fees, and deliverables. Refer legal or restricted representation matters as needed.

Common questions

What should you do next?

Should I ignore the letter if I think the agency made a mistake?

No. Review it carefully and check its response instructions and deadlines. A disagreement does not necessarily suspend the agency's timeline.

Can Patel Tax Advisors respond to the agency for me?

We first evaluate the matter and applicable authorization or credential requirements. We can assist with permitted analysis, filings, documentation, and communication within scope; attorneys or other authorized practitioners may be required for particular representation, hearings, or legal disputes.

Can I send a photo of my notice through the website?

Please don't upload confidential notices or personal identifiers through the public intake. After an engagement is accepted, our team will direct you to an appropriate secure document process.

Does contacting the firm stop penalties or preserve appeal rights?

No. Sending an intake or email does not extend or suspend an agency deadline. Follow the notice instructions and seek immediate authorized help when a deadline is near.
